Whakapapa to National Park

Day 22: Whakapapa Village to National Park (21km, of which we walked 15km)

After two tough days we decided we would not set the alarm and have a leisurely start today. We knew it was going to be an easy day so took our time getting going.

And what a difference a day makes! A beautiful, easy track with some more great views (another stunning day weather-wise). We stopped to chat to some interesting runners and walkers along the way and before we knew it we had finished on the track and were on SH47.  Rather than walking 6km along the highway to National Park, we decided to hitch and were lucky enough to get a ride pretty quickly.

Then it was chill out and admin time at our very luxurious NP accommodation.

Our best day so far!

  1. Hi Kerstie and Roger, what a fabulous adventure you are on. Have just managed to find time to sit and catch up with your blogs. Loving the daily bird calls and the descriptive honest track conditions.
Happy New Year to you both, safe travels and keep the photos coming. What a wonderful country we live in!
